GLASS |
| Both
Rubber and Polymer Stamps have been used to etch glass. Used
for logos and small applications. Large glass etching normally
accomplished with silk screens. The
major ingredient is the etching chemical that can normally be purchased at a glass shop. The chemicals that I've seen
was used in a stamp pad or spread on a flat surface.
Should be rolled out to get an even layer on the stamp and
avoid clumping. One is liquid and the other paste. The liquid
may dry to quick for your use and may need to revert to the
paste. Ask the shop about reducer to thin when
needed. Some trial and error will occur while you wait
for the etching process. Cleaning stamp should be done using
the reducer and a soft brush to remove the etching from the
stamp shortly after use. May cause accumulations
collecting on the stamp rendering it unsatisfactory the next
time you want to use if not cleaned. |

EMBOSSING |
|
Requires Embossing powder, Stamp, Stamp ink and a heat source
like a toaster, hot plate, iron, etc. Stamp paper,
Sprinkle embossing powder over fresh print. Tap and pour the
excess powder that does not stick to the ink, back into it's
container. Move the inked area over the heat source until the
powder melts and make sure the heat source does not scorch the
paper but hot enough to melt the powder. You will have a little trial and error determining the
right heat setting on the heat source and distance that will
give you satisfactory results. Movement will help distribute and even the
heating to accomplish the desired result. |

| ART
STAMPING |
| Art
Stamping is measurably improved with the use of see through
clear acrylic mounts and semi-transparent polymer dies for
placement. However, most art stamps available by rubber stamp
manufacturers are opaque rubber. Even so, the acrylic mount will give
more visibility than wood when attached with proper adhesive. |
|
| ROCKER
MOUNT |
| Rocker
mount is used for large stamps because it takes less pressure
to print different sections of the stamp as it rocks from one
side to the other. Similar to the blotters that use the rocker
method to blot fountain pen signatures on documents. Takes skill to operate
correctly as a printer. Not popular. |

MARSHMALLOWS |
|
Marshmallow printing has developed some interest. If you
decide to print these make sure the ink you use is digestible
even if your intent is only as decorations. Food dye may
be an option. As in any art endeavor, you will have to
develop a skill in either rolling the round marshmallow over
the inked die or rotating the stamp around the marshmallow if
not printing the flat ends.
The other problem is getting the food dye to be of a consistency
to transfer satisfactory from the stamp to the marshmallow.
Please email your findings. |

WEDDING
NAPKINS |
|
Surprisingly easy and quality is satisfactory. Suggest a
self-inking stamp if you have bunch to do. |

TATTOOS
& HAND ID |
|
Rubber Stamp Ink is water soluble and is easily washed off.
Used to identify customers for events so they may come and go
without repaying. Invisible ink will highlight under UV light. |
|
| POTTERY |
Potters will use to emboss logo and trademark for work in a
wet condition before firing. The major issue of a rubber
stamp for this purpose is the depth of the stamp characters
and design. Shallow depth is not desirable.
Potters will also use to print logo and TMs on work
before the final glazing.
Could be used to either print or emboss designs at the
appropriate stage of their work. Needs cleaning shortly
after completion of use to avoid the drying of the
accumulations of clay or inks used in glazing. Suggest
polymer as more durable in the cleaning process which may be
on the vigorous side. Use soft brush and appropriate solvents. |

| ROLLER
MOUNT |
| Roller
mount is a round roller that the die wraps around. The ends
are matched and connected with a handle. The round roller is
normally 4 inches in circumference. Used for continuous design
by rolling the stamp across the page. The die is Inked
by rolling the stamp across an ink pad or some may have an
inking system rotating with the stamp roller. Design popular
with those that mark sides of beef after inspection. If more
than one rotation, need attached rotating ink source. Fun to
use but need skill to get design where you want especially
beginning and end. |
